I spend the whole night in a box in Rdam because I couldn't find the way home
So in the morning I waved the bums goodbye and went to school. So after washing myself in the river I was almost late for school.
And I had to be there from 9 till 4!!!
Luckily a lesson dropped so I was out at half past 1!
But I was hungry...and no MacDonalds in sight
Fortunately, the bumps, had made me some bread (don't ask how it tasted...).

And now I'm home again, tired...very tired...need my sleep...in my own bed!

Sunday I made it to the 11th place, but only 10 could ride the finals

Well, 11th out of 123 contestants

webside of my work. I have a fulltime job at www.jovanbeek.nl as an accountant (big word, but yeah..) and I also work at www.brainwash.nl on thursdayevenings. And soon I'll be working as a skateboardtutor as well

and yes it was 11th out of 123 skateboarders. If I would have ended one place higher I would've reached the finals, but too bad

oh yeah.. yesterday I had the first session of teaching kids how to skate. We had about 13 kids in a small skatepark in Arnhem. There were a few kids that started from scratch and a few that already could kick(flip) it a little. I took the advanced kids and Wouter (owner of brainwash skateshop) took hand of the beginning kids. It was fun and they learn pretty quick. You know young kdis.. no fear...
One kid have a skateboard for himself and had some trouble learning the ollie, so I gave him some tips as well. We gave him a skateboard to practice at home 'till next week. You should've seen his face when we handed over the board You know the dutch saying 'blij als een kind'? (don't know if they have something like that in english)
Well, so that was fun and I even get a little money for it too.

ehm, I've done both and I'd say they're not the same, but I guess it's easier to learn snowboarding if you've skateboarded and the other way around. You already have a little sense of the balance. The biggest difference between the two is: in skateboarding you're not attached to the board which makes jumping harder than snowboarding where you're attached.

I think getting the hang of skateboarding is more difficult than snowboarding, but for me skateboarding is more easy, because I've been doing it for the last... 14 years or so and I've only snowboarded a few times. They're both fun though.

Dutch people dread the snow as much as indo ppl I'd say. I know I do But if you're sporting it's not cold at all. The only problem you'll have, probably, is a cold ass If you're starting to snowboard you're sitting a lot and yes, snow is cold So don't forget to get the snowboardpants. And about handgloves: don't take your expensive gloves with you, because from grabbing the board they will fall apart sooner than you can say 'boerenkool met worst'

Well, I did some skiing first and then I found out about snowboarding. I was on holidays with a friend of mine and he had his own snowboard. I rented a board as well and he gave me a few tips and the first minutes I thought I would never get the hang of it, until all of a sudden I had the feeling. In ten minutes I learned how to snowboard. Of course I wasn't satisfied by just going left and right, so I found this nice wall on the side of the piste. I slid up the wall and jumped 180, but since I just learned them I landed wrong and fell backwards with a stretched arm. Result: a hurt, thick elbow }:O
I think you can easily learn it without lessons if you have a friend that can do it. But maybe I had the advantage of being a skateboarder...balance?

I've never been there or in any dutch indoor halls. I have a friend that goes there everytime if he gets the chance. I believe he goes to Zoetermeer a lot.
The only indoor place I've been before is Bottrop (Germany) It was fun, but not quite like the real thing. Outside on a real mountain is always better.

Yes, it was bad weather, but we skated indoor halls. Saturday I went to Eindhoven. Sunday to Deventer. There also was a girl skateboarding there I'll go skating with her again soon.
and monday I took a day off frmo work, because they planned a demo on a schoolyard in Anrhem, but because of the bad weather teh demo was cancelled and we decided to find a park somewhere. We went right accross the border to Goch, Germany. The park sucked, but we had fun anyway.

So, did you keep your word on having a relaxing weekend?
I know I did.
I went to Eindhoven saturday and skated my lungs out.
There was a guy trying to air above this quarterpipe and everytime he tried you heard people go "ooh" and "aah". I tried as well and landed the second time. And followed with another technical trick. And you could hear people chearing, lol.
Later that day a friend of mine filmed two tricks.
I'm gonna bore you with the tricks:
1. Kickflip to frontside tailslide over a gap.
kickflip is that your board flips over underneed your feet like this and frontside tailslide is sliding the back (tail) of your skateboard on something like this.
and over a gap means that there was a distance I had to jump.

2. nollie heelflip to frontside tailslide to fakie.
Nollie heelflip is kinda like a kickflip, but with a kickflip you push the tail (back) to lift off and on nollie you push the nose (front). Also heelflip means that you flip the board the other way. Not by kicking the board with your toes making it flip, but by kicking with your heel (heelflip).
I did this trick on a curb that was on an extension, so I had a bigger drop off than the curb's height
